Maui Family Vacation Day 2: Wedding Luau

On the second day, we (everyone except Daddy) woke up at 4am because of the time zone difference.

I was happy to see that some of my favorite shows from PBS kids are in Hawaii.

Dei Dei was happy exploring.

He was getting into everything and eating almost everything (including flowers, sand, paper, lint, and a bug! Yuck!).

We went shopping at Costco and then at Wailea since Daddy didn't pack much clothes. Here we are waiting for him to buy clothes. I was happy to see a fountain and chased some birds around.

When Dad finished shopping, we went to the Grand Wailea for a luau. It was the first of the wedding events scheduled by the bride and groom. The Grand Wailea had a beautiful entrance, with a huge waterfall.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, it was the wrong place. Even though it said the Grand Wailea on the invites, the Grand Wailea canceled their luau 2 weeks ago. The wedding couple had to change the venue and announce a new luau site on their website. Fortunately, we discovered the update on their website.

The luau was at the Marriot in Wailea with a nice view. The luau was hosted by the groom's family. We met Uncle Amit, but didn't see Auntie Niti when we arived.

I got really interested in one of the crafts.

Daddy bought me a hand carved turtle and the man who carved it, engraved my name on the bottom of it.

Auntie Niti arrived later.

A family picture.

Hawaiian food!

One of the waiters suggested Dei Dei try some Poi, made from taro. He said Hawaiian babies are raised on it.

He liked it!

Daddy let him try some Pina Colada (virgin, of course).

I saw a lot of hula dancing, but was getting sleepier.

Dei Dei and I were so tired, we slept through the fireworks.

It was a nice touch at the end of the luau.

It went on for a while, and we still slept through it. By this time (and with the 3 hour time difference), it was way past our bedtime.
